FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1) What can we do on a yacht charter?
All yacht charters have some cruising time, as well as time for swimming and other water activities while the boat is stationary. Every yacht will have basic water toys such as kayak, stand up paddle board, and floating water mat. Some larger yachts may come with add on options for advanced water toys such as jet ski, giant water slide, etc. Most yachts (other than the cheapest and most basic ones) will also have KTV. And of course, all yachts can also do BBQ. Do note that no swimming or water activities are permitted after dark for safety reasons due to poor visibility.
2) Can we do fishing?
All yachts can do fishing, although results and policies for what is provided will vary. Some yachts are much better equipped for fishing than others and have more experienced crew (usually a reflection of their owner’s interests) so contact us for more details. Do note that it is not recommended to do fishing and water activities / BBQ unless the time is extended to 5 or preferably 6 hours. This is because the spots for fishing will be different from the area for water activities / BBQ and the boat will have to displace between the 2 areas. Thus, these activities are best done consecutively and not concurrently. There is a temptation for customers to throw as many activities as possible into a 4-hour charter (sometimes encouraged by other yacht charter companies) but in our experience it’s better not to include fishing as an afterthought in a 4-hour charter (typically for a minority of guests), unless the whole group wants to do fishing as the main activity.
3) Where will we go and for how long?
The standard destination is always the Southern islands - Lazarus / St John / Seringat, which are actually one island practically speaking but each retain their historical names. Base prices are for 4 hours, with extension per hour at additional charge, subject to availability. A typical itinerary for most boats would be:
30 mins traveling from marina
2.5 hours at Lazarus / St John / Seringat, specifically either at Eagles Bay on the eastern side of the islands or at Seringat Pier / St John Pier, on the western side of the islands, depending on weather and sea state.
30 mins city skyline tour headed east towards marina bay area (optional - inform captain)
30 mins travelling back to marina.
Note: the above is for boats from One Degree 15 marina with city skyline tour included, boats from Marina at Keppel Bay have slightly longer travelling times and slightly less time at the islands.
4) Where are the boats based?
Majority are at One Degree 15 marina, with a few at Marina at Keppel Bay. Embarkation at the start of the charter and disembarkation at the end of the charter will be at the marina where the boat is based.
5) Are we able to explore the islands on foot?
Yes. Let the captain know at the start of the charter that you wish to do so and they will bring you to Seringat Pier, where you can disembark and explore the islands (Lazarus / St John / Seringat) on foot.
6) What time can we charter?
You can choose, subject to availability. Popular timings would be 4pm to 8pm or 5pm to 9pm. Surcharges may apply for odd hours, such as very late at night (after 10pm) or very early in the morning (before 9am). The cutoff time and surcharge will vary depending on which boat is selected.
7) Do children count as one pax?
All ages count as one pax. The reason is because in the license issued to charters boats by MPA stating the maximum passengers allowed there is no differentiation between adults and children.
8) Can I bring my own F&B including alcohol?
In general, yes, and without any charge, with the exception that some boats do not allow red wine but allow other kinds of alcohol. Most boats allow all kinds of alcohol.
9) Can order F&B online and deliver to the marina?
Yes, but the crew can only help to receive up to 30 mins before the start of the charter; before that they may be on another charter or have other duties or may be on break. We tend to advise clients not to deliver F&B directly to the marina unless they have someone standing by to receive as delivery drivers are notoriously inaccurate when it comes to timing.
10) Can you supply Halal food?
Yes, most of our BBQ food have Halal certified alternatives, with Halal stamp. Contact us for more details.
11) Can you supply Vegetarian food?
We don’t have vegetarian BBQ food but we can get takeaway boxes from an Indian Restaurant with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. If your group has different dietary restrictions, do consider bringing your own ready-to-eat food.
12) Can I bring pets?
Some boats are more pet friendly than others, but even in the most pet friendly boats pets must stay outdoors and off water toys (as they may damage them). Owners also will have to clean up after their pets. Some boats are not so pet friendly in the sense that they may allow pets but with many conditions (wear diaper, collect cleaning deposit, etc.) so we will typically just direct customers to a more pet friendly boat.
13) Can I bring my own decorations / hire a decoration vendor?
Yes, however do note that One Degree 15 Marina bans balloons and confetti. It’s a silly rule but it applies to all boats from that marina.
14) Can I change date / time / boat after booking?
Generally speaking, bookings made are for a fixed date, time, and boat. Depending on the boat, it may be possible with penalty fees, which can vary depending on the boat and on how soon it is to your charter (not, as commonly thought, how much time has elapsed since your booking). For this reason, we advise customers to book only when their date and time is firm.
15) What is the booking process like?
In terms of the booking procedure, when you confirm the date, time, boat, and number of pax, we will issue you an invoice. Do let us have your name for the invoice (or the name of another company or individual the invoice is to be addressed to). You can check the invoice and all the terms and conditions, and if satisfied make payment via paynow or fast transfer, after which your charter will be confirmed.
